Area murder trial to begin on Tuesday

The trial for a Muskogee man accused in a 2007 murder will begin Tuesday, said District 27 First Assistant District Attorney Jack Thorp.

Robert Smallen, 60, was charged in 2007 with the shooting death of Ronnie Dean Hall, 47, of Muskogee. Hall was allegedly shot the morning of July 12, 2007, near the Horseshoe Bend area of Lake Tenkiller.

Smallen went to trial in 2009, but a jury could not come to a decision. Smallen has been set and reset for trial multiple times since then.

Jury selection was finalized Thursday.
