Man’s body found near Wagoner store

A man’s body was found Monday afternoon in a field behind the Walmart Supercenter in Wagoner, police said.

The man, whose name has not been released, was found just before 3 p.m., said Wagoner police Detective Chris Edwards.

“Officers received a call from an individual on a tractor in a field just south of Walmart,” Edwards said. “He had located a body in the field.”

Officers determined that the body was that of a white male, and they did find identification on the man. Police said they also found indicators that maybe he was a transient, Edwards said.

Police were on their way to try to contact the man’s family late Monday.

“We didn’t see any signs of foul play, but the case is still actively being investigated,” Edwards said.

The body was taken to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office to determine a cause and manner of death, Edwards said.
