City man pleads guilty to robbery

Guess sentenced to 10 years in Kum & Go holdup

— A Muskogee man pleaded guilty Tuesday to his role in the armed robbery of a local Kum & Go convenience store in 2010.

Tracy Ledon Guess Jr., 22, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for robbery with a weapon in connection to the early morning Aug. 12, 2010, robbery at 65 E. Peak Blvd.

Guess was one of five people arrested that day. In Guess’ written plea filed Tuesday, Guess admitted to entering the convenience store while Michael Newton held a gun on the cashier and demanded money.

The armed robbery conviction falls under Oklahoma’s 85 percent statute, meaning Guess will be required to serve more than eight years in prison before being eligible for parole. However, Guess’ judgment and sentence paperwork states he will be given credit for time served in the Muskogee County/City Detention Center, as well as a judicial review after 120 days. If Guess has no “write-ups or infractions” in the meantime, the balance of his sentence will be suspended.

Of the four others arrested for the robbery, Keith Titsworth, was given a five-year probationary sentence on a reduced charge of accessory to robbery. Newton pleaded guilty to robbery with a weapon earlier this month and is set for sentencing May 20.

A charge against another defendant was dropped in 2011, while a female arrested the day of the robbery was never charged with a crime.
