PM UPDATE: Power restoration continues after outage

Electrical power to OG&E customers in several parts of Muskogee was knocked out Saturday night.

Businesses on Shawnee Bypass were affected, as well as an unknown number of residential customers.

Al Stevens, spokesman for OG&E, said a vehicle damaged a pole supporting electrical lines near the intersection of 24th Street and Shawnee Bypass shortly before 8:45 p.m.

“We’ve brought downtown back online, and I expect the crews will have the rest of it repaired in an hour or so,” Stevens said. “I got a call from the manager at Walmart asking me when the electricity would be back on.”

OG&E's website reported 389 customers in Muskogee were without electricity as of 9:55 p.m. The website reported more than 1,100 customers had been without electricity earlier Saturday evening.
