Man gets 13 years in rape, sodomy

A Michigan man will spend about 13 years in an Oklahoma state prison after pleading guilty to four counts of first-degree rape and one count of sodomy involving a 13-year-old girl.

Christopher Dale Adams, 28, of Lake Orion, Mich., was sentenced to 20 years for each of the five charges, but seven of those years will be suspended. All sentences will run concurrently.

Once Adams is released from prison, he'll be supervised by the Department of Corrections for two years. Adams also will be required to register as a sex offender.

Adams was arrested a year ago at a motel in Wagoner as part of a sting by local authorities. Adams drove to Oklahoma believing he was meeting up with the 13-year-old girl he had met online, but was instead arrested.

Suspicions arose when rangers at Sequoyah State Park were asked to check on Adams. Park rangers Sgt. Roger Moody and Lt. Bryan Qualls were told Adams was involved in a relationship with the teen, and the rangers developed probable cause to stop Adams. The girl was with Adams, but authorities had no reason to arrest him at that time.

Rangers gathered evidence from Adams’ room at the park and asked for assistance from other investigators.

Authorities learned the teen victim met Adams online, and at some point, the girl's adoptive mother, 70-year-old Barbara Wynn, began paying for Adams to travel to Oklahoma and be with the girl.

Wynn would leave the teen with Adams. The teen admitted to investigators that she and Adams had intercourse each time he traveled to Oklahoma.

Wynn was charged with enabling child sexual abuse and pleaded no contest earlier this month in exchange for a five-year deferred sentence.

Adams admitted during interviews after his arrest that he and the teen met and had sex several times.
