Eufaula man found dead in water near dock

A Eufaula man died when he apparently drowned Sunday morning, a representative of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

David Elliot, 58, of Eufaula was last seen Saturday when he was fishing with his girlfriend in Alta Vista Cove, which is in the Longtown area, said Jeff Moore with OHP communications.

Sometime Saturday, the girlfriend left the area and Elliot remained at a boat dock. When he did not return home by Sunday morning, she went back to the boat dock and found his body floating in the water, Moore said.

The Oklahoma Lake Patrol was called at 7:12 a.m.

Elliot was not wearing a life vest. His body has been taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office, Moore said.
