Man pleads guilty in gadget explosion


— A man who injured himself after a device he was trying to build exploded in April has pleaded guilty to federal charges in the case, according to a media release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Jeremy Edward Ramirez, 27, of Stilwell was charged with knowingly possessing an explosive device after former conviction of a felony.

Ramirez was injured by shrapnel in the small explosion which occurred April 19 after he attempted to wire his cellular telephone to a blasting cap at a residence in Tahlequah, according to court records.

The statutory range of punishment is up to 10 years imprisonment and/or up to a $10,000 fine.
