— Two recent high-profile cases won’t be heard by jurors in the coming weeks as originally planned, but several murder cases may reach their conclusions, an official said.

Muskogee County District Attorney Larry Moore said the trials of Davanna Dotson and John Cone have been delayed and will not take place during the round of jury trials that begin Monday.

Dotson, 22, is accused of eight counts of obtaining money by false pretenses in an adoption scam. Dotson recently pleaded guilty in federal court to wire fraud and awaits sentencing there, Moore said, so her case was stricken from the docket until the results of the federal case are learned.

A competency evaluation was ordered for Cone, 22, who is accused in the shooting death of Skylar Brewer, 26, on Sept. 6, according to court records.

Moore said all movement in the case is stayed until Cone receives a competency hearing, so his jury trial has been stricken.

Trials that are set to go in the coming weeks include:

• Darvin Gray, 50 — Gray’s trial in the alleged rape, sodomy and molestation of a juvenile female at the Castle of Muskogee in October 2011 is set to begin Aug. 2. Gray initially pleaded guilty in the case, but later withdrew his plea.

• Jacorey Billings, 22 — Billings’ trial begins Aug. 5. He faces a first-degree murder charge in the shooting death of Roshun English, 35, on Nov. 11, 2011. Billings has been tried previously, but the jury was hung and a mistrial declared. There were several other defendants in English’s death, including Dawaan Norwood, 22, who received life in prison; Schiavone Anderson, 18, who received life with 25 years of his term suspended; and Romonne Lavell Johnson Jr., 17, who received a 10-year sentence on a lesser charge of first-degree robbery as a youthful offender.

• Fredrick Watson, 19 — Watson is facing a charge of first-degree murder in the Nov. 23, 2011 shooting death of Ryan Satterfield, 17. Watson’s trial is set to begin Aug. 5.

• Tommy Dean, 21 — Dean also is charged with first-degree murder in Satterfield’s death. Dean has been tried previously, but the jury was hung and a mistrial declared.

• Michael Thornbrough, 35 — Thornbrough is set to go to trial Aug. 8 on charges of kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of an automobile, robbery by force or fear, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, eluding a police officer, running a roadblock and malicious injury to property. Additionally, Thornbrough faces a separate kidnapping case and is set to appear in court next on it Sept. 13.

• Nancy Scraper, 40 — Scraper is charged with one count of lewd molestation and two counts of harboring a runaway child. She was a Muskogee County detention officer when she was accused of allowing two juveniles who were runaways from a foster home to stay with her. She also was allegedly depicted in a photo kissing one of the juveniles, who was 15 at the time.
