Store robber gets prison sentence

— A Muskogee man was sentenced to prison Tuesday in two armed robbery cases, according to court records.

Michael Devon Newton, 22, was charged with robbery with a weapon after a 2010 armed robbery of a Kum and Go store.

He pleaded guilty in that case in March and was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison with all but the first 10 suspended.

Newton was charged in another case with robbery by force or fear and conspiracy in 2011. He also pleaded guilty in that case in March.

He received 20 years in prison with all but the first 10 suspended on the robbery and 10 years on the conspiracy. All the sentences Newton received will run concurrently, and he will get credit for time served, the court records state.
