Suspect in shooting hit with drug charge

— A Muskogee man awaiting trial in a shooting that injured another man in 2012 was charged Monday with trafficking in illegal drugs.

Dionneta Gerald Triggs, 19, was charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon in the shooting of a Muskogee man in June 2012. Two other men are also charged in the case. Triggs’ jury trial on the assault is set to begin Aug. 7.

According to court records, Triggs was released from jail on $100,000 bond on July 6, 2012, in that case.

Officers allegedly found Triggs in possession of about five grams or more of cocaine base Thursday after police were called to a domestic disturbance involving Triggs and his girlfriend, according to a probable cause affidavit in the case.

He is in the Muskogee County/City Detention Facility on $100,000 bond. He is to return to court July 22 for a sounding docket.
