Keetoowah Cherokee language classes free

TAHLEQUAH — The United Keetoowah Band started its Keetoowah Cherokee language classes in four locations Monday.

The classes are free to the public and run for 10 weeks.

• Hulbert: Classes are at the Spring Valley Church starting at 6 p.m. Mondays. Loretta Shade is the instructor: (918) 822-1958.

• Webbers Falls: Classes are at the Webbers Falls Museum starting at 6 p.m. Mondays. Dorothy Powell is the instructor: (918) 464-2392.

• Kenwood: Classes are at the Steeley Baptist Church from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays. Clara Proctor is the instructor: (918) 837-0624.

• Muldrow: Classes are at the Belfonte/Nicut Community Building from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays. Alpheus Byrd is the instructor: (918) 776-7171.
