Information: Suspect said ‘I did it’

Guerra charged with murder in double shooting; charges expected against another

A Muskogee man charged with first-degree murder in Friday’s double shooting admitted to killing April Perry, according to documents filed Tuesday.

Information filed in the case states Robert Luis Guerra Jr., said, “I did it! I did it!” to Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office investigators after being placed into custody Friday.

Prosecutors formally charged Guerra on Tuesday and announced anticipated charges against another man jailed in the case.

Guerra, 35, was charged Tuesday with:

• First-degree murder;

• First-degree robbery;

• Larceny of an automobile after former conviction of a felony;

• Shooting with intent to kill after former conviction of a felony;

• Possession of a firearm during commission of a felony after former conviction of a felony;

• Possession of a controlled dangerous substance after former conviction of a felony; and

• Possession of a firearm after former felony conviction.

Guerra, accused of shooting Perry, 22, and her husband, Darrell Perry, 52, as well as stabbing and cutting April Perry with a sword, is held without bond at the Muskogee County/City Detention Center.

Muskogee County District Attorney Larry Moore said in a court hearing Tuesday afternoon he intended to file two counts of accessory to shooting with intent to kill against Ryan Johnson. Johnson, who Moore said was also being held as a material witness to Guerra’s charges, was ordered held on $250,000 bond.

April Perry died Saturday from gunshot and stab wounds suffered during the attack. Darrell Perry is in a Tulsa hospital, steadily improving, Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Faye Banks said.

Banks said she intended to speak to Perry on Tuesday night if he had recovered enough for an interview.

According to the affidavit, Johnson told investigators Guerra had ordered him and the Perrys into the Perrys’ car at an apartment on D Street. Guerra then ordered Johnson to drive them to the Perrys’ mobile home at 2405 N. 32nd St.

The group went inside the mobile home, where Guerra shot the Perrys with a gun he had threatened them with earlier, the affidavit states.

Johnson was then ordered back into the Perrys’ blue Dodge Neon, where he said he heard more shots come from inside the mobile home. Guerra then exited the mobile home and told Johnson to drive them away from the scene.

Muskogee Police Officer C.B. Abel spoke to Perry briefly before Perry was hospitalized. Perry told him “the suspects were two Indian or Hispanic looking males.” Deputy Michael Morrison located the car, stopped at a home in the 500 block of Cincinnati Street, and took Johnson and Guerra into custody.

Guerra returns to court Jan. 16 for a scheduled revocation hearing and preliminary hearing on Tuesday’s charges.
