Two women found dead in homes

Both lived on Fort Gibson Lake; bodies taken to medical examiner

Two women were found dead in their homes at Fort Gibson Lake on Thursday, according to a media release from the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Department.

Vickie Lynn Hill, 53, was found dead at home in the Rocky Point area Thursday morning.

Later in the day, Rose M. Teixeira, 82, was found dead at home in a Whitehorn Cove neighborhood.

Wagoner County Sheriff's Office Major Gary Handley said neither woman’s cause of death has been determined.

Both have been taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office, he said.

Thursday morning, deputies responded to a call of a woman not breathing at a home in the Rocky Point area of the lake, near 310 Road and 683 Drive.

Deputies found Hill dead when they arrived.

Hill was last seen the previous evening around dinner time by her family, on whose property she lived.

Hill’s father forced entry into her residence when he was unable to make contact with her, Handley said.

Services are pending for Hill with Shipman Funeral Home & Crematory in Wagoner.

Thursday afternoon, deputies responded to a call about Teixeira, who had a gunshot wound to the head. She was in a residence in the Whitehorn Cove area, near 344 Road and 698 Road. Teixeira was found dead by her daughter and son-in-law when they returned home after spending the day at the lake for the Fourth of July holiday.

A loaded revolver was recovered at the scene, the media release says.

Teixeira was last seen about 12:45 p.m. by a neighbor, who had given her a ride to the store.
