Girl hurt in Lake Eufaula boating accident

A boating accident at Lake Eufaula on Saturday has put a Jenks girl in the hospital.

David Jones, 42, of Bristow was driving a 1991 Lowe pontoon boat at 8:26 p.m. Saturday near Eufaula Cove in McIntosh County.

The girl, whose name was not released, was sitting on the bow dangling her feet while the boat was moving. She fell off the boat and was struck by the propeller, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

She was taken to Epic Medical Center in Eufaula and was then flown to the Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis in Tulsa. She was stable when she was admitted, but her condition was unavailable from the hospital.

The report does not say whether the girl was using a personal flotation device. Seven people, including four children, were on the vessel at the time of the accident. No one else was injured.
