Initial charges filed in robbery

A Muskogee man was charged Monday with conjoint robbery for allegedly robbing a Dollar General store last week.

Jeremy Maurice Williams, 20, remains in the Muskogee County/City Detention Facility on $100,000 bond.

Williams also is charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and public intoxication. He is to be back in court July 28.

Also arrested in the case is Trace Cowart, 20, of Checotah. He is expected to be charged today with conjoint robbery and possession of contraband (drugs) by an inmate. He is scheduled to be in Muskogee County District Court at 3 p.m. today. He is free on $100,000 bond.

The men were arrested Thursday after allegedly using realistic-looking plastic guns to threaten employees at the Dollar General Store at 501 S. York St. and rob them.

Police recovered the guns and the money when they arrested the pair minutes after police were called, they said.
