A 38-year-old Beggs man died early Thursday as a result of injuries sustained when a motorcycle he was riding crashed into an oncoming pickup.
The collision, which occurred about two miles east of Oklahoma 16 on East 760 Road in Wagoner County, was reported at 12:22 a.m. Thursday.
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper investigating the crash said Alan Hogue was heading west in the eastbound lane when the head-on collision occurred.
The 2004 Yamaha dirt bike Hogue was riding struck a 2008 Ford pickup being driven by Benjamin Haff, 30, of Wagoner. Haff refused treatment at the scene. Hogue was transferred to Wagoner City Hospital, where he died.
Trooper Greg Jennings noted in his report Hogue had an odor of alcohol on or about person and was not wearing a helmet when the collision occurred. Haff, the OHP report states, appeared normal.
Conditions were clear at the time of collision, the cause of which was listed as driving left of center. Seatbelts were in use by Haff in the Ford pickup, but its airbags did not deploy upon impact.
