Woman sentenced in federal assault case


— A Tahlequah woman was sentenced in federal court to probation for assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm in Indian Country, a release states.

Marsha Renee Wright, 29 was sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to pay $5,100 in restitution, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Charges arose from an investigation by the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Wright was indicted in September and pleaded guilty in November.

The indictment alleged that on or about Aug. 29, Wright assaulted an individual with intent to cause bodily harm, by ramming the vehicle she was driving into a vehicle occupied by the other individual.
