Police search for robbery suspects

Two men sought in convenience store stickup

Muskogee police are searching for two men wanted in connection with an armed robbery at a convenience store on Shawnee Bypass.

A clerk at the Kum & Go at 3450 E. Shawnee Bypass was cleaning the store’s parking lot about 3 a.m. Wednesday when a vehicle pulled into the parking lot. The clerk told police that as he was entering the store, he was confronted by a black male who was wearing a black hoodie, black pants and a black bandanna. The man pulled a gun, pointed it at the clerk and followed him inside the store, said Muskogee Police Cpl. Michael Mahan.

The suspect then produced a backpack and demanded that the clerk place money and cigarettes in it, Mahan said. The man also robbed the clerk of his cell phone.

A second suspect, who is described as a black male who was also wearing black clothing, remained outside the store and kept watch while the other suspect committed the alleged robbery, Mahan said.

The clerk told police that both suspects left the scene in a blue or green four-door “Grand Marquis-style” vehicle, and traveled north on Country Club Road, Mahan said.

The store clerk was not injured, Mahan said. Police are not releasing the amount of money that was taken from the cash register, Mahan said.
