Foster kids moved out after alleged pot discovery

Four children were removed from a foster home after police found what is believed to be marijuana in the home.

An employee of the Department of Human Services received information from a third party about the possible use of marijuana in the home, Muskogee police Cpl. Michael Mahan said.

Officers accompanied a DHS employee to the home, where officers detected a strong odor they believed to be marijuana near the foster parent’s bedroom, Mahan said. They also found a pipe that contained what they believed to be marijuana.

Four children — ages 12 to 17 — were in the home. The children have been placed in another foster home, Mahan said.

Officers are investigating an allegation that the foster parent may have provided marijuana to one of the children, Mahan said.

The foster parent has not been arrested. All information has been submitted to the Muskogee County District Attorney’s Office.
