Robbery, assault counts hit city man

A Muskogee man was charged Monday with conjoint robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Elbert Lee Meeks, 21, is accused of robbing a man on Centennial Trail of $7 cash and an iPhone on Sept. 1. Meeks was arrested Thursday morning. Court documents state another unidentified male was with Meeks at the time of the alleged robbery. Meeks’ bond was set at $100,000.

Court documents state the assault charge stems from an alleged assault on Sept. 15. Meeks is charged with shooting several times at Charlisha Logan. Court documents state Meeks fired through the back window of a vehicle, and a bullet landed in Jasmine Williams’ lap.

Bond was set at $50,000 for the assault charge. Meeks will be back in court Oct. 7 for a sounding docket at which time a date will be set for a preliminary hearing when testimony will be given.

In March, Meeks was acquitted in the Dec. 21, 2011, shooting death of 2-year-old Ja’Cion Logan.
