NSU’s Sequoya Brass to perform Sunday

— Sequoya Brass, the resident faculty brass quintet at Northeastern State University, will present a free concert at 7 p.m. Sunday in the NSU Jazz Lab.

The quintet will perform a wide variety of music, from the Renaissance through jazz and contemporary selections. The concert will open with “Exaltation,” a fast-paced rhythmic piece by young American composer Brian Balmages.

The featured work on the program is Victor Ewald’s “Quintet No. 3,” one of the celebrated masterpieces of the quintet’s repertoire. Sequoya Brass also will perform traditional bullfight music by Spanish composer Santiago Lope Gonzalo, a Renaissance suite of three canzoni in the Italian style, and several jazz and commercial selections.

The NSU Jazz Lab is at 315 N. Muskogee Ave. in Tahlequah.
