Two at MHS win entry to arts academy

— OKLAHOMA CITY — Two Muskogee High School students have been accepted to the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain, a prestigious arts academy.

Trae Havens and Makenna Hukill will be in the acting program.

Havens and Hukill were among 271 students selected through competitive statewide auditions from a pool of more than 1,000. Attending students receive full scholarships to the program, worth more than $3,000 each. Scholarships and program funding are provided by the state Department of Education, the Oklahoma Arts Council, and various foundations, corporations and individuals.

OSAI, scheduled for June 15-30, provides training with award-winning artists in nine areas of the literary, visual, and performing arts. OSAI faculty artists have included winners of the Academy, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony awards.
