Merchants begin handing out tickets for Magic Holiday Giveaway

Magic is in the air for Muskogee shoppers this holiday season.

The Muskogee Chamber of Commerce is once again sponsoring the annual Magic Holiday Giveaway, with a grand prize of $10,000.

The shopper with the lucky $10,000 ticket will win during the big event drawing Dec. 16 at Arrowhead Mall. The ticket-holder will not need to be present to win.

“We’re expecting a really good holiday season this year,” said Sue Harris, president and chief executive officer of the chamber. “I think people are ready for the holidays. We’re ready for them to shop locally, and that’s why we do the magic holiday giveaway — to support our local merchants.”

A list of the 97 retailers participating in this year’s giveaway can be found at

The first of four weekly drawings for $500 will be held after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Chamber of Commerce.

The winning number will be announced Thursday in the Muskogee Phoenix, on Okie Country 101.7, posted at the Chamber office at 310 W. Broadway and Arrowhead Mall, 501 N. Main St., at or call 682-2866.

Three more $500 drawings will be held on Nov. 24, Dec. 1, and Dec. 8.

New for 2010 is an extra giveaway — announced  at 2 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Muskogee Christmas Parade.

“We are going to have a car in the Muskogee Christmas parade that will have a lucky number on it,” Harris said.

If the winner is present at the parade, it will be a $1,000 prize; a winner not present will win $500.

At the parade, the winner should take their ticket to the parade judges stand.

The regular weekly winners must bring their winning ticket to the Chamber of Commerce office by noon on the Monday following the drawing to claim the prize.

The winner of the Dec. 16 grand prize drawing must bring the winning ticket to the Chamber of Commerce office at 310 W. Broadway by noon Dec. 27.
