Charges filed in police chase

Multiple charges have been filed against a Fort Gibson man who led police on a chase March 14.

James Gilbert Thomson, Jr., 24, has been charged with two counts of running a roadblock, plus eluding/attempting to elude police officer, possession of stolen vehicle and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, court records state.

The chase began in Muskogee and ended near Bixby. About 9:40 a.m., a Muskogee police officer saw a stolen 2005 Toyota Camry near a motel on North 32nd Street. The driver, later identified as Thomson, eluded police, said Muskogee Police Lt. Bryan Stark.

Police followed the vehicle to an area near Bixby, where the vehicle ran out of gas, Stark said.

During the chase, Thomson traveled at high rates of speed and ran through two roadblocks.

A sounding docket is set for 10 a.m. April 3, court records state. At that time, a date will be set for a preliminary hearing.
