Political science prof at NSU to speak in MPL lecture series

— Dr. Cheryl Van den Handel, an assistant professor of political science at Northeastern Oklahoma State University, will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Muskogee Public Library on “Humanitarian Intervention.” Her address is part of the Great Decisions program, which is funded by the Muskogee Public Library Hultquist Trust.

Van den Handel teaches political science, international law and organizations and political development at NSU. She also has organized workshops for struggling students and leads an honor society.

Van den Handel has also been an adviser to the NSU’s model United Nations, an academic simulation of the world body. The model United Nations aims to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the organization’s agenda.

The Great Decisions lectures are free.
