A.M. UPDATE: VA to hold 2K walk to support homeless veterans

The public is invited to participate in a “VA2K Walk and Roll” event at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center on May 15, which will coincide with National Employee Health and Fitness Day.

The event will start at the north end of the medical center near the entrance to Honor Heights Park and will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be four group walks, which are scheduled for 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., noon and 12:30 p.m. Registration table opens at 10:30 a.m.

Sponsored by the JCMVAMC Employee Health Promotion Disease Prevention Program, the purpose of this annual event is to encourage employees at all levels of fitness to join in a fun, short walk while benefiting homeless Veterans.

While there is no registration fee, participants are asked to donate items to support homeless Veterans such as: boots/shoes, strong backpacks, new full size hygiene items and new socks and underwear. However, donations are optional.

The Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center is located in Muskogee at 1011 Honor Heights Dr.
