P.M. UPDATE: History Day contest set for Tuesday

The 2014 District 8 History Day contest is scheduled for Tuesday in the University Center at Northeastern State University’s Tahlequah campus, a media release states.

The theme for the contest is “Rights and Responsibilities in History.”

Area students will compete in two different divisions and five categories.

The junior division consists of sixth- through eighth-grade students, and the senior division includes ninth- through 12th-graders. The program allows students to express what they have learned in one of five ways: through a creative, original performance, documentary, paper, website or three-dimensional exhibit.

Every student who enters the contest will receive a certificate. Students who place first, second or third at the district contest will receive medals. The top three district finalists will be eligible to participate in the state contest at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City on May 7 and 8.
