Save Our Water meeting to feature Derryberry

— Former state Attorney General Larry Derryberry will be the featured guest speaker April 18 at Save Our Water’s monthly meeting.

The Eufaula-based organization, which regularly meets at 8 a.m. on the third Thursday of each month, rescheduled the meeting time and place to 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center, located at the corner of First and High streets in Eufaula.

Derryberry was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 1962 while attending law school. The Altus native served in that capacity until 1970, when he was elected as the state’s youngest attorney general.

Derryberry now serves as lawyer for the Oklahomans for Responsible Water Policy.

The organization of more than 14,000 members has been at the forefront of the  battle over resources at Sardis Lake and other southeastern Oklahoma water bodies.
