Reed is a Ward III city councilor, the president of the Muskogee chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the director of the Martin Luther King After-School Program and a co-director of the Night Hoops Summer Program.

An awards ceremony is scheduled for 6-7 p.m. Thursday in the Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center’s Grand Ball Rooms in Tulsa.

The “Emerging Young Leaders Award” is given to people who have significantly affected the lives of girls and boys in their community, the release says.
