Hulbert teen hurt in crash that kills one

BOYNTON — A Hulbert teenager was injured in a crash that killed another person in Mayes County, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol accident report.

Keanu Kylan Ikaika Peck, 17, of Hulbert, was injured Monday at about 5:37 p.m. on County Road 550, less than two miles northwest of Locust Grove. Peck was taken to Mayes County Medical Center where he was treated and released, the report states.

Peck’s passenger, 17-year-old Kale Davidson, of Locust Grove, was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where he died.

Peck was driving a 1996 Jeep when Peck looked down at the center console and lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

Seat belts were in use by Peck and Davidson, according to the report, and air bags in the vehicle deployed.
