TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee citizens interested in growing rare, traditional corn or bean crops can request two varieties from the Cherokee Nation Seed Bank.
The Cherokee Nation Seed Bank will begin dispersing inventory of the seed bank to citizens interested in cultivating traditional Cherokee crops generally not commercially found throughout the month of February. The list of available species includes corn, beans, squash, gourds, Trail of Tears beads and tobacco.
The Cherokee Nation has a limited supply; therefore, citizens are limited to two varieties. Email requests to Mark Dunham at email@example.com or Pat Gwin at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include a copy of your Cherokee Nation citizenship card, proof of age and reliable address for sending seeds.
