State Senate leaders tour Oklahoma School for Blind

— State Senate leaders from the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services recently toured the Oklahoma School for the Blind in Muskogee. The senators included Subcommittee Chair Sen. Kim David (R-Porter), Vice Chair Sen. Greg Treat (R-Oklahoma City) and committee member Sen. Frank Simpson (R-Ardmore).

The School for the Blind is a division of the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services and is a statewide resource for the education of blind and visually impaired students in Oklahoma.

The students demonstrated the use of braille, iPads with specialized computer software and other adaptive technology and equipment that are part of the expanded curriculum to help students with visual disabilities succeed in class.
