CSC research needs Native American adults

Dr. Gary Grady, psychology instructor at Connors State College, has completed the first phase of research on self-esteem in Native American college students, a media release states.

Approximately 30 percent of Connors’ students are Native Americans, and this research has the goal of discovering success factors for Native American students.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, 18 percent of Native American high school graduates enroll in college, and 11 percent obtain college degrees, compared to 42 percent of whites who enroll and 34 percent who earn degrees. Dr. Grady’s research seeks to determine if self-esteem is a factor in those numbers.

Dr. Grady completed his research among Connors’ students and is collecting data from Native American adults who have never enrolled in college. Results will be compared with the Native American students’ results.

He asks Native American adults to complete a brief, anonymous survey online. Individuals do not have to give personal information. The survey can be found at
