A Muskogee man was arrested by police over the weekend on a complaint lewd acts to a minor.
Jorge Romero-Sanchez, 38, was arrested Saturday night at a home on the 400 block of North J Street. He is suspected of committing a lewd act to a 7-year-old girl, said Muskogee Police.
Cpl. Michael Mahan said at about 10 p.m. Romero-Sanchez called police to report he had been assaulted by an unknown black man in his home.
Another person then called at about 10:40 p.m. saying Romero-Sanchez had committed a lewd act against the girl at about 8:30 p.m. The mother of the child had apparently witnessed the act and told the reporting person, Mahan said.
“She then identifies the suspect, who was the individual as the one who performed the lewd act,” said Mahan. “It appears the motive for the assault may have been linked to the suspect’s alleged misconduct toward the juvenile victim.”
The mother was arrested on a complaint of child neglect, but was released Monday without charges.
Romero-Sanchez is in the Muskogee County/City Detention Facility with a bond set at $25,000.
Mahan said police are investigating the lewd acts complaint and are searching for the man who allegedly attacked Romero-Sanchez.
