Drug possession counts filed against alleged user

A Muskogee man who allegedly injected methamphetamine in front of a police officer was charged Monday with drug possession.

Justin Higgins, 22, was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $10,000.

Higgins was suspected of shoplifting Sept. 19 at the Family Dollar at 2400 W. Okmulgee Ave., police said.

When police arrived, Higgins was pointed out by a store employee. Higgins was sitting in a vehicle, and when police approached him, he injected himself, police said.

Higgins is scheduled to be back in Muskogee County District Court on Sept. 30 for a preliminary hearing where testimony will be given.
