Police say man shot up in library

A Muskogee man was arrested after Muskogee Public Library patrons called police about alleged drug activity in a restroom, said Cpl. Michael Mahan of the Muskogee Police Department.

Brent Matthew Pryor, 38, was booked into the Muskogee County/City Detention Facility at approximately 1:40 p.m. Friday on a complaint of possession of drug paraphernalia, Mahan said.

“Patrons were saying they thought there was some kind of drug activity taking place in one of the stalls,” Mahan said.

Officers from the police department’s Special Investigations Unit arrived and observed Pryor with a syringe, injecting himself, Mahan said.

“Before they were able to get him to come out of the stall, he flushed the syringe down the toilet,” Mahan said. “They did recover the spoon and the cap to the syringe. He admitted he was injecting oxycodone.”

Because the drugs were injected and the syringe was flushed, police  booked Pryor on the paraphernalia complaint.

Oxycodone is a narcotic prescribed to treat extreme pain. It is a man-made version of the natural compounds found in opium, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health.
