Outhouse race planned Oct. 8


— As part of the Heritage Days Festival events, Downtown Muskogee Inc., will hold an Outhouse Race. The event will take place at 1 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Three Rivers Museum, 220 Elgin St. A “Parade of Thrones” will take place at noon. Attendees at the Heritage Days Festival will also have an opportunity to vote for a People’s Choice Award of the most creative and best decorated outhouse.

The Outhouse Race will consist of teams of three racing an “outhouse” they have constructed. Racing will take place in front of the Three Rivers Museum. Outhouses can be constructed of any material and there are no weight requirements. One team member must ride inside the outhouse while two other members push the outhouse along the marked racecourse. The winning outhouse will be awarded a “Golden Throne” award.
