Checotah physician assistant earns honor

Douglas Hubler of Checotah was named Rural Physician Assistant (PAs) of the Year at the annual fall meeting of the Oklahoma Academy of Physician Assistants, a media release states.

Recognition came during the Oct. 23-25 Conference in Norman. About 600 PAs attended the session at the Embassy Suites Hotel, said Theresa Gavula, OAPA president. Academy members celebrated their 40th anniversary at the educational and business meeting.

The Rural PA of the Year Award honors a PA who has provided quality health care in a rural community, demonstrated exemplary service to the PA profession in Oklahoma, and has furthered the image of PAs. Recipients have shown leadership and been a mentor to others in their rural community.
