— Three people were injured Thursday afternoon in a collision on West Shawnee Bypass at 24th Street.

Karla Smith, 42; Ashley Coffee, 11; and Jason Coffee, 12; were listed in good condition Thursday evening at EASTAR Health System, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Smith was driving a black four-door Lexus sport utility vehicle east on Shawnee Bypass when it collided at 4:28 p.m. with a white four-door Chevrolet Colorado driven by Brian Coffee, 39.

Smith and the Coffee youths were taken to EASTAR by Muskogee County Emergency Medical Service following the collision. Ashley and Jason were passengers in the Colorado, which also was traveling east on Shawnee. Brian Coffee was not injured.

Officer Jeff Wilkins said, “Both vehicles were moving forward into the green light when the SUV rear-ended the truck.”

Emergency personnel placed a neck brace on Smith before she was removed from the vehicle and placed on a stretcher by Muskogee County EMS and Muskogee firefighters.

Ashley Coffee was also placed in a neck brace, and Jason Coffee was holding the back of his head as they stepped up into the ambulance.

Debris littered the roadside, and traffic moved slowly around the closed lane while emergency personnel cleared the scene.
