A.M. UPDATE: Woman identified in suspicious death

Law enforcers are investigating the death of a McIntosh County woman who was found Thursday in her home by a relative.

Sheriff Kevin Ledbetter identified the woman as Jennifer Kitchens, 36. She was found dead shortly after 1 p.m. at her Texanna Road residence.

Details about the woman’s death remained sketchy, and Ledbetter stopped short of describing Kitchens’ death as a homicide. State investigators, however, were  called in to process the scene.

“At this time the cause of death is undetermined,” Ledbetter said. “But it is being investigated by local law enforcement and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.”

The discovery of the woman’s body was reported to the McIntosh County Sheriff’s Office at 1:13 p.m. Thursday. OSBI crime scene investigators remained on the scene into the evening Thursday.

Ledbetter said investigators also were checking out leads at a secondary site during their search for evidence. Details regarding the location of that site were unavailable.

It also was unknown Thursday night when Kitchens was last seen alive.
