School boss wants school bond election on May 15

— Muskogee School Superintendent Mike Garde said he would like to have a bond election May 15.

“We’re at a point to where it is necessary,” Garde told school board members at their regular meeting Tuesday.

He said the bond issue would not raise taxes.

Garde said the district has identified many building, technology, transportation and maintenance needs totaling $82 million.

However, any bond issue would not be near that amount. Garde said possibilities include a $25 million bond issue paid out over five years or a $38 million bond issue paid out over seven years.

He said he would like to have a special board meeting to discuss proposals before the board’s Nov. 13th meeting.
