Three women arrested in hit-run

One falsely claimed to be driver, officer says

— Three women were arrested after a hit-and-run accident Friday that left three people injured.

Shirley Mundy, 49; Brandi Quillen, 18; and Sarah Boley, 25, all of Muskogee, were booked into the Muskogee County/City Detention Center.

Officer Michael Mahan said a red Toyota sport utility vehicle that was northbound on 17th Street ran a stop sign at Emporia Street and hit a westbound green Suzuki SUV.

The driver of the Suzuki lost control of the vehicle, which flipped onto its side, and the Toyota left the scene, he said.

Rebecca Williamson, a spokeswoman for Muskogee Emergency Medical Service, said the driver of the Suzuki, Shanta Sheppard, 29, refused treatment at the scene. Two children in her vehicle, Isaiah Sheppard, 4, and Diamond Sheppard, 2, were taken by ambulance to EASTAR Health System.

Williamson said the children’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

As Mahan was investigating the accident, Mundy and Quillen arrived in the damaged Toyota, and Mundy told Mahan she was the driver, the officer said.

“She lied to us. She said she was the driver, and when we arrested her for leaving the scene of an injury accident, they told the real story,” he said.

Quillen, the actual driver, was arrested on complaints of leaving the scene of an injury accident, driving without a license, no insurance and running a stop sign.

Mundy was arrested on a complaint of obstructing a police officer.

Boley was arrested on a complaint of leaving the scene of an injury accident, Mahan said. Boley had been riding with Quillen when the accident happened.
