Boynton mayor resigns

James Holt has resigned as mayor of Boynton.

Holt’s resignation letter, dated March 7, states that “I am resigning as mayor and council member of the town of Boynton to be effective as of 5 p.m.”

Holt lists several of his accomplishments while serving on the town board, including working on the water and sewer system to keep them in operation, and obtaining grants to purchase equipment and remodel city hall.

“I have tried for four years to get something done about the past due water bills and can’t get the city council to do anything about them,” Holt stated in the letter.

The letter also states that because of lack of interest “of  the people and the city council of the town of Boynton I am unable to remain on the city council any longer.”

Holt states he has been Boynton’s mayor for four years.
