An arrest was made after numerous cars were burglarized in Grandview addition in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
Travis Deshazer, 22, was booked into the Muskogee County/City Detention Facility on five counts of possession of stolen property. He is being held on $10,000 bond, said a jail spokeswoman.
Officers were called about 3 a.m. by a man who saw someone burglarizing his vehicle and was able to give a description, Lt. Bobby Lee said.
While looking around the neighborhood for a suspect, officers saw multiple cars with doors standing open and interior lights on, he said.
Officer Seth Paris saw Deshazer, who appeared to be trying to hide from him. Deshazer’s clothes matched the description given by the man who called for officers. Deshazer was detained, Lee said.
“The officer then found stolen property on Deshazer’s person, items that matched the description of those stolen from vehicles,” Lee said.
According to police logs, reports were made on three vehicle burglaries on Warwick Drive, one on Grandview Boulevard, and one on Cumberland Drive early Wednesday.
Lee said the police department continued to receive calls Wednesday morning from residents in the Grandview area who either had items stolen from their cars or whose cars were rummaged through overnight.
“More charges could be filed later,” he said.
Lee said officers have not determined the owners of several items in evidence at the police department.
“If anyone was burglarized last night and thinks they have something missing, they need to give us a call,” Lee said.
