Two men shot in Porum

Both men are critically injured

Two people with gunshot wounds were flown to Tulsa hospitals Wednesday evening, said Jimmy Catron, Porum police chief.

“I believe they were roommates, and they were in a heated discussion,” Catron said. “One was throwing the other out.”

Two men, whose identities were not released, were found with life-threatening gunshot wounds at a mobile home at 515 W. Seneca in Porum at approximately 7:40 p.m.

“One was shot in the face, and one was shot in the abdomen,” said Delsie Lewis of Muskogee County Emergency Medical Service.

Catron said one of the men shot the other with a .410 shotgun. The victim ran out of the mobile home to a nearby neighbor’s house.

“When we got here, the suspect was still in the house,” Catron said. “He came crawling out on the porch and had shot himself in the face.”

One of the men was loaded onto a helicopter at the Porum ball field and the other was taken by ambulance to the Warner helipad. Both were critical when they were transported, Lewis said

Police did not get to talk to either of the men before they were flown to Tulsa. Witnesses told police what had happened.

“The neighbors talked to the victim when they first got to him,” Catron said. “By the time we got here, he was going into shock.”

Police wanted to notify family members about the shooting before releasing the names of the men involved, Catron said.

The men had moved into the mobile home about four months ago, Catron said.
