Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office investigators are looking for a man who allegedly raped a Tulsa woman in an empty house in eastern Muskogee County.
Investigator Coletta Payton said the woman, who’s in her early 20s, said she arranged on Craigslist to meet the man.
They met at what she thought was his home, at about 10 p.m. Monday, in the 7500 block of East Hancock Street, Payton said. But when the woman entered the house, she found it was empty.
“It was completely abandoned; there’s no one living there,” Payton said.
The woman reported having a Taser held to her neck, then being stripped naked before being raped. The woman’s purse, which contained a handgun, was stolen, Payton said.
“After he was done, he told her, ‘Don’t get up until you hear me leave,’” Payton said. “She eventually goes next door, all she has on is underwear and a coat, and a neighbor calls 911.”
Payton said the woman underwent a rape exam, which was sent to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
The suspect was described as a 5-foot 10-inch male, about 200 pounds, light skinned, possibly mixed race, between 18 and 25 years old. The woman said he was driving an older black Lexus with Oklahoma plates, though she didn’t get a tag number.
The scenario mirrors two similar cases from earlier this year.
In January, an out-of-town woman met a man to buy a TV she’d seen advertised on Craigslist. She reported being handcuffed and robbed at gunpoint. No arrest was made in that case.
The next month, another out-of-town woman reported being assaulted after agreeing to meet a man at a city motel. She said she was kidnapped and raped.
A man was arrested, but he was released from jail after prosecutors declined to press charges.
