Emergency workers search for jumper

— Sequoyah County emergency personnel search part of the Illinois River for a woman who was seen jumping off a bridge on U.S. 64 on Wednesday afternoon. The county’s swift-rescue team used sonar to search for several hours before halting the search. Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart said a woman driving across the bridge saw a woman jump and called 911. The woman who was driving reported hearing voices coming from under the bridge as well. Area hospitals were checked for patients being brought in, but officials believe that whoever jumped must have left with someone in a car that was parked by the river, Lockhart said. Anyone with information can call the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Department at (918) 775-1213.
