P.M. UPDATE: Cherokee Nation hosts Environmental Fair

— The Cherokee Nation is hosting its third annual Environmental Fair on Friday to promote conservation and protection of natural resources in the community.

Nearly 40 program officials, including from Cherokee Nation Environmental Programs, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Natural Resource Conservation Service and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will have information booths and offer activities that educate the public on environmental issues. New to this year’s fair will be an outdoor agricultural classroom for students to look at how local crops are grown.

From 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, 13 species of trees, including American plum, black hickory and white oak, will be given away free in recognition of Arbor Day.
