P.M. UPDATE: Muskogee man sentenced in federal court on robbery, weapon charges

A Muskogee man was sentenced in federal court on a robbery and a weapon charges, according to a media release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Jamal Lee Piercy, 25, was sentenced to 37 months imprisonment for robbery in Indian Country and 84 months imprisonment to be served consecutively for brandishing a firearm during and in relation to and in furtherance of a crime of violence. Piercy also will serve three years of supervised release after he serves his prison terms.

Charges arose from an investigation by the Muscogee Creek Nation Lighthorse Police, the Muskogee Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Piercy was indicted in August and pleaded guilty in September.

The indictment alleged that on or about June 18, on land held in trust by the United States on behalf of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Piercy, a non-Indian, used a small-caliber handgun to rob the victim, identified only as S.H., of cash. Piercy will remain in custody pending transportation to the designated federal prison where he will serve his nonparolable sentence.
