Area man charged after teen found pregnant

Girl told teacher that father was 24-year-old

— A  Fort Gibson man is accused of impregnating a juvenile who he had been having a sexual relationship with for about three months, court documents state.

Jimmie Don Balentine Jr., 24, was charged with second-degree rape on Thursday, and he is being held in the Muskogee County/City Detention Facility.

Bond is set at $25,000.

The girl, 14, told her teacher “that she was pregnant by a man that was 24 years of age,” court documents state.           

A Muskogee County deputy spoke with school officials and then with the juvenile.

The girl told the deputy that she willingly had sex with Balentine. She also said that she had to go to her father’s house to see Balentine because he was not allowed at her mother’s house, court documents state.

The juvenile also told authorities that she first had sex with Balentine about three months prior. Before then, they were just friends, she said.

In a written statement to authorities, Balentine “admitted to the sexual relationship” with the juvenile, court documents state.

According to Balentine, the juvenile’s father allowed his daughter and Balentine “to spend every weekend at his house and sleep on the fold out couch.” Balentine also stated that the juvenile’s father “smoked weed with them,” documents state.

The second-degree rape charge is punishable by imprisonment for one to 15 years.

Balentine will be back in Muskogee County District Court on May 9 for a sounding docket. At that time, a date will be set for a preliminary hearing to determine if Balentine should stand trial.
